The Space Between

So you must be a Dave Matthew’s Band fan if that title got your attention!
Today, while on vacation, I spent time alternating between a cold plunge and a hot tub.
Cold.
Hot.
Cold.
Hot.
As I moved between the two, I realized something.
The greatest lessons in life are often hidden in the simplest experiences.
Because life itself is contrast.
Day and night.
Work and rest.
Victory and defeat.
Comfort and challenge.
Faith and doubt.
We spend much of our lives trying to avoid one side of the equation. We want the warmth without the cold. The blessing without the burden. The harvest without the planting.
But nature doesn’t work that way.
And neither do we.
The moment you step into cold water, your body reacts.
Your breathing changes.
Your heart rate rises.
Every instinct tells you to get out.
Yet if you stay calm and breathe through it, something remarkable begins to happen.
Your body adapts.
Then you move into the heat.
Your muscles relax.
Circulation improves.
Recovery begins.
Most people think the benefit comes from the cold.
Others think it comes from the heat.
Neither is entirely true.
The benefit comes from your body’s ability to adapt between the two.
One of the greatest misunderstandings in life is believing that the event creates the result.
It doesn’t.
The result is created in the space between the events.
Think about music.
Music doesn’t happen because of the notes.
Music happens between the notes.
Without pauses, timing, rhythm, and space, music becomes noise.
The silence gives meaning to the sound.
The same is true in chiropractic.
Healing doesn’t happen because of the adjustment itself.
The adjustment is simply the stimulus.
Healing happens afterward.
It happens while you sleep.
It happens while you move.
It happens while your nervous system adapts and reorganizes.
The adjustment creates the opportunity.
Your body creates the healing.
The same is true with exercise.
The workout is the stimulus.
Recovery builds the muscle.
The same is true in business.
The seminar doesn’t change your life.
Implementation does.
The same is true in faith.
The prayer isn’t the end of the process.
Often it’s the beginning.
Faith grows in the waiting.
The event gets the attention.
The adaptation creates the transformation.
The world celebrates the visible moments.
The championship.
The promotion.
The breakthrough.
The miracle.
But the real work happens in the quiet spaces nobody sees.
Between the moments.
Between the challenges.
Between the extremes.
That’s where resilience is built.
That’s where character is formed.
That’s where wisdom grows.
That’s where healing occurs.
Life is not found in the event.
Life is found in the space between the events.
Music happens between the notes.
Healing happens between the adjustments.
Strength happens between the workouts.
Faith grows between the prayers.
Character develops between the victories.
Life happens between the extremes.
And perhaps the greatest lesson of all is this:
The space between is where life actually happens.
It’s the journey not the destination that makes it all worthwhile.
Until next time,
Find The Source.
Simplify The Solution.
